Happy New Year puppet enthusiasts!
2008 is shaping up to be a great year for the Puppet Showplace! We are having a SLAM on the 19th of January. SLAMs are special nighttime events for grown-up puppet fans. Sometimes we tell jokes, or perform puppet ballets. Sometimes the things that happen are a complete surprise!
Also: New and exciting things are always popping up in our store, so drop in and take a look!
Puppet Showplace is New England's Puppet Theater; the first and only theater in the region solely dedicated to high-quality puppetry performance and education for audiences of all ages. Our blog helps readers plug into the puppetry community, learn about upcoming events, or take a behind-the scenes-tour of our many shows and classes.

Upcoming shows and events
Many of you have been calling and asking if we have a show on Monday the 12th. Your eyes are not fooling you! We have showings of "Puss in Boots" at 1pm and 3pm. We generally do not have shows on Mondays, but the 12th is Veteran's Day.
Aaaaaand in grown-up puppet news: on Saturday the 17th we are having a Puppet Slam! What is a Puppet Slam, you ask? A Puppet Slam is a hard thing to explain. Our Slams showcase experimental puppetry at its finest. There will be performances that make you laugh, sing and think. There are lots of different kinds of puppetry being showcased at this Slam, including shadow and object puppetry. Curious as to what that means? Well, come on by the theater at 8pm on the 17th. We'll even have tasty snacks!

"Where do we eat?"
One of the most frequent questions we get here at the Puppet Showplace is "where can we get some lunch around here?"
There are lots of places to get tasty food in Brookline Village!
Right across the street from the PST there is a Bertucci's. They have pizza and pasta and yummy desserts.
And, a few doors up Station Street is Kookoo. They have coffee drinks for the grown-ups and juice for kids. They have some of the best sandwiches in town (even pb&j!), and excellent baked goods. The best thing is, everything is home-made and healthy!
If you're in the mood for a burrito or a quesadilla, Baja Betty's is just a hop, skip, and a jump from the post office on the corner of Station and Harvard. And, if you want some ice cream to cool you off in this unseasonably warm weather, Baja Betty's is just the ticket!

Welcome !
Hello everyone, and welcome to the brand new PST Puppet Blog!
This blog is meant to keep everyone up to date on our shows. We also plan to use this space for other goodies, like interviews with puppets (and puppeteers!), pictures, video, and games. Our posts will always be kid-friendly, though sometimes we will tell you about puppet events for grown-ups. This will also be the best place to check for cancellations, parking and special seating information.
We also hope that the Puppet Blog becomes an interactive tool for you, the reader. Please feel free to reply to our posts. Tell us what you think about the shows and the theater!
We've made a lot of changes for our Fall season. We recently had new ceilings installed throughout the theater, and we're still getting used to how great the shows sound now! We've also painted the floor in the lobby (one of you guys said it was just like "walking on the sky")!
And last but not least, we've added new puppets to the store! Pay attention to the blog, because we'll tell you whenever we add something new to the store.
We hope that you enjoy the new blog, and come back often! We want to hear from you, so please leave a comment, even if you just want to say "hi"!
-The PST Staff
(P.S.: The picture is of Coyote, one of the stars of Moccasin Stew, showing 10/6-10/7 at 1pm and 3pm as presented by Magpie Puppets!)
